Scattered documents become a usable dataset.
Audecius Open provides machine-readable information about the German school system for the 2026/27 school year. The dataset covers 16 federal states, 64 school types, 65 qualifications and 380 dated entries. CSV and JSON can be downloaded without an account; the public API requires no key.
The entries connect federal state, school type, role, date type and source. Each school type also explains how an exchange year is treated. This makes the material reusable for research, education, international exchange programmes and independent applications.
Uncertainty remains part of the data.
Of 380 dated entries, 187 are supported as official by a named ministry or KMK source. A further 193 entries explicitly carry the status typical: a common pattern that is not presented as confirmed for this school year.
This distinction is included in the files themselves. Users can therefore see which rows they can cite directly and which should be checked again before consequential planning.
- 19 distinct official sources linked
- 69 entries explicitly for exchange students
- CSV and JSON downloads without sign-in
- Version 1.0 under CC BY 4.0
Free to use and permanently citable.
The compilation is licensed under CC BY 4.0. A DOI record at Zenodo and mirrors on GitHub and Hugging Face connect the same release, so that search engines, research systems and editorial teams do not treat them as independent sources.
Corrections and additional official sources can be reported through the Audecius contact route. The visible version and confidence information remains part of the dataset when it is updated.
